What is Remdesivir injection?

Remdesivir injection is used to treat coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19 infection) in hospitalized adults and children 12 years of age and older who weigh at least 88 pounds (40 kg). Remdesivir belongs to the antiviral drug class. It functions by preventing the virus from spreading throughout the body.

How To Use

Remdesivir is available as a solution (liquid) and as a powder that must be combined with liquid and infused (slowly injected) into a vein by a doctor or nurse in a hospital for over 30 to 120 minutes.
It's normally given once a day for five to ten days. Your treatment duration is determined by how effectively your body responds to the drug.

If you experience any of the following symptoms during or after the infusion, contact your doctor or nurse right away: chills or shivering, nausea, vomiting, sweating, dizziness when standing up, rash, wheezing or shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, or swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, or eyes.
If you have these adverse effects, your doctor may need to slow down or stop your infusion. If any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away, contact your doctor
