What is Ibandronate Sodium Tablet 150 mg?
Ibandronate Sodium Tablet 150 mg is used in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis (bones become thin, fragile, and easily break) in women who have reached menopause (the end of their monthly periods). Bisphosphonates are a type of drug that includes ibandronate. It works by improving bone density and inhibiting bone degradation (thickness). How to Use Ibandronate
- Ibandronate is available as a tablet that must be swallowed. The 150-mg tablet is generally taken once a month on an empty stomach in the morning. Each month, the 150-mg tablet should be consumed on the same day.
- Ibandronate must be taken right after you get out of bed every morning, before eating or drinking anything.
- With a large glass of ordinary water, swallow the tablets. Ibandronate Sodium Tablet 150 mg should never be mixed with anything other than plain water, including tea, coffee, juices, milk, mineral water, sparkling water, or any other liquid.
- Do not break or chew the tablets; they must be swallowed whole.
- Do not eat, drink, or use any other drugs (vitamins or antacids) for at least 1 hour after taking ibandronate. After taking ibandronate, do not lie down for at least 1 hour. For at least 1 hour, sit or stand erect.
- Ibandronate slows the progression of osteoporosis, although it does not eliminate it. Ibandronate is only effective in treating and preventing osteoporosis if it is taken on a regular basis. Even though you feel fine, keep taking ibandronate.
Benefits of Ibandronate Tablet
Osteoporosis is a disease that affects bones, making them more fragile and prone to breaking. It is more common in women who have gone through menopause or who are using steroids. Bone-strengthening medications can be used to treat this problem. Ibandronate lowers the rate at which your body's bones break down. This helps to preserve bone density and lowers the chances of breaking bones. You can also help strengthen your bones by exercising regularly (particularly weight-bearing activity), consuming calcium- and vitamin-D-rich foods, and limiting your alcohol and tobacco consumption. Calcium and Vitamin D3 supplements are also beneficial.Precaution - Ibandronate Sodium Tablet 150 mg
- If you have an allergy to ibandronate or any other drugs, or any of the substances in ibandronate tablets, notify your doctor.
- If you take any oral drugs, such as supplements, vitamins, or antacids, wait at least 1 hour after taking ibandronate before taking them.
- If you have been unable to sit or stand straight for at least 1 hour or if you have or have ever had a low calcium level in your blood, inform your doctor.
- Tell your doctor about any prescription and OTC medications, vitamins, nutraceuticals, and herbal products you're using or planning to use. Your doctor may need to adjust your prescription dosages or keep a close eye on you for side effects.
- If you have or have ever had anaemia, trouble swallowing, heartburn, ulcers or other troubles with your stomach or oesophagus (tubes that carry the throat to the stomach), cancer, any type of infectious disease, especially in your mouth, teeth, or gums, any situation that prevents your blood from clotting normally, or kidney disease, inform your doctor.

- Consult your doctor to learn about additional ways to avoid osteoporosis from growing or worsening.
