What is Cetuximab Injection?
Cetuximab injection is used to treat a kind of head and neck cancer that has progressed to neighbouring tissues or other sections of the body. It is also used to treat a form of the colon (large intestine) or rectum cancer that has progressed to other parts of the body, either alone or in conjunction with other drugs. Cetuximab belongs to the monoclonal antibody class of drugs. It helps to slow down or prevent cancer cell proliferation. How To Use It
- Cetuximab is a liquid solution that is infused (slowly administered) into a vein. A doctor or nurse administers cetuximab injection in a medical clinic or infusion centre.
- The initial dose of cetuximab will be given over a 2-hour period, and subsequent doses will be given over a 1-hour period. Cetuximab is normally administered every 1 to 2 weeks for as long as your doctor thinks you should be treated.
- If you have specific adverse effects, your doctor will need to reduce the speed of your infusion, reduce your dosage, delay or stop your therapy, or treat you with different medications. During your cetuximab therapy, be sure to let your doctor know how you're feeling.
How Does Cetuximab Injection Work?
Cetuximab is a monoclonal antibody that interacts with cancer cell receptors specifically. As a result, the cancer cells are marked for elimination by the immune system.Precautions for Cetuximab
